Chinese Government Scholarship - Bilateral Program (CGS-BP)

In order to promote the mutual understanding between China and other countries, the Chinese government has set up Chinese Government Scholarship to provide full scholarships and partial scholarship to international students. China Scholarship Council (hereinafter referred to as CSC), entrusted by the Ministry of Education of People’s Republic of China (hereinafter referred to as MOE), is responsible for the enrollment and administration of Chinese Government Scholarship programs.

Applicants shall apply to the dispatching authorities for overseas study in their home countries or the Chinese Embassy. Generally the application period is from November to April; however, it varies in different countries. Therefore, please confirm the specific date before application.

 

Chinese Government Scholarship - University Graduate Program (CGS-UGP)

University Postgraduate Program is established by the Ministry of Education of P. R. China (hereinafter referred to as MOE) aiming to provide supports to Chinese HEIs in building high level universities, and promote Chinese higher education brand on an international basis. The Chinese HEIs under this program are responsible for the recruitment of international students. China Scholarship Council (hereinafter referred to as CSC), entrusted by the MOE, holds the responsibility of the verification, approval and the routine management of the program. Students can apply the scholarship through our university directly and the scholarship is open for the students who want to study master or doctor degree.

1. The instruction language could be either Chinese or English.

Applicants who apply for courses instructed in Chinese are required to take one year Chinese language course prior to the academic study if their Chinese is not qualified. Only by passing the examinations after the Chinese language course, could they start their academic studies.

2. Scholarship students should complete their study within the due time; scholarship duration specified in the admission notice CANNOT be extended in principle.

 

Duration and Values of Scholarship

Master Degree:2or3 years

Doctoral Degree:4 years 

Students who are not proficient in Chinese language can apply for Chinese language studies for 1 year before their major studies.

 
 

Criteria & Eligibility

1, Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens in good health.

2, Applicants must not be studying in Chinese universities at the time of application.

3, Education background and age limit:

Applicants for master degree must have bachelor degree and be under the age of 35.

Applicants for doctoral degree must have master degree and be under the age of 40.

 

Application Deadline

April 15th, please make sure mail materials arrive before deadline.

Apply in the online system, then send all documents to International Student Center, USTB.

Note: Incomplete application materials or no application fee will be not processed.

Two copies of application materials are required, one Original of Notarized and one Duplicate. (Application materials and fee will not be returned.)

2, Application Form. Login the application system and submit information, then print;

3, Degree Certificates (Bachelor and Master), must be the Original of Notarized in Chinese or English;

Note: Students expecting to graduate should provide an official letter stating expected graduation date, then submit the degree certificate later if admitted;

4, Official Transcripts (Bachelor and Master) up to the present, including courses taken and standard achieved, must be the Original of Notarized in Chinese or English;

5, A Personal Statement, above 800 words for master, and above 1500 words for doctorate, must be in Chinese or English;

6, Two Recommendation Letters from your referees, including their contacts, must be the Original in Chinese or English;

The referees should be professors or associate professors. At least one of them should have knowledge of your recent academic work;

7, A copy of your Language Test Result;

a) Chinese-taught program: HSK level 5 (masters) or 6 (doctorates);

b) English-taught program: IELTS 6 points or above; IBT 80 points or above;

8, One Photocopy of Passport;

9, Health Certificate;

10, Application Fee 600rmb (pay in the application system or in the office);

11, Acceptance Letter from supervisor (Optional);

12, Table of contents and abstracts of your academic publications and any other original achievement in your field (Optional);
